Quick start guide

Get from a SharePoint PDF to a Jira-backed markup in under ten minutes.

1. Open MarkUp-N-Track in the browser

  1. Go to https://www.markupntrack.com and open Drawing Markup Studio (MarkUp-N-Track).
  2. Use a current browser (Edge, Chrome, or Safari) signed in to your work Microsoft account when prompted.
  3. Allow SharePoint / OneDrive access so the app can open library files and save markups back.

2. Connect Microsoft 365

The app uses Microsoft identity so it can open the SharePoint file you choose and write changes back to the same item. The published association file lives at /.well-known/microsoft-identity-association.json and lists application ID 58415ece-f2e7-4088-a5c3-2a4ede34c97c.

3. Run the Jira setup wizard

  1. Enter your Jira Cloud site, for example https://yourco.atlassian.net.
  2. Enter the Atlassian account email you use for that site.
  3. Create an API token at Atlassian’s token page and paste it into the wizard.
  4. The wizard calls /rest/api/3/myself. Save only after the test succeeds.
The token is stored only in your browser session. It is not written into the PDF or into SharePoint metadata.

4. Open a drawing from SharePoint

  1. In SharePoint or OneDrive, open the PDF with MarkUp-N-Track (or paste the library link into the app).
  2. Watch the header: Site, Project, and Drawing Story fill from the filename when possible.
  3. Example: pro-001-0251-overview-rev-A.pdf maps toward project PRO10251 and an open Overview story at Rev A.
  4. If several stories match, pick one. Do not leave the picker on a guess.

5. Create or select a Drawing Task and mark up

  1. Create a Drawing Task or select an existing open one.
  2. Add text and shape annotations. They are standard PDF comments tagged to that task.
  3. Save. The file stays in SharePoint; the task stores the durable hyperlink.

6. Transition status

Use the in-app Story and Task status controls. Only transitions Jira allows for your account appear. Jira remains the system of record.
